The association “Expotem of Saint-Renan” has the goal of exploring and explaining various themes by means of diversified exhibitions.
Thus, after participating in an exhibition on the subject of « Astronomy and navigation » during the Brest 96 Tall Ships Meeting, the theme that we next covered included various aspects of « communication ».
In 1998, we created an exhibition for the the tin mining operations that took place between 1957 -1975 during the exploitation of the local mines by the Comiren company, which was the pride of Saint Renan.
For the Brest 2000 Maritime Ships Meeting, we dedicated our exhibition to a popular sailor of the early 15th century named Hervé de Portzmoguer and his ship, “La Cordeliere”, which, along with its master, are both well known in Brittany. The exhibition took place on April 22-23, 2000, in the Cultural Center of Saint-Renan.
The 28 and 29th of September 2002, we presented an exhibition concerning the Penitentiary of Brest to commemorate the 250th anniversary of its construction.
On June 5-6, 2004, Expotem filled the large hall of the Saint-Renan Cultural Center with an exhibition dedicated to the 60th anniversary of “D » Day, and the landing of the Allied Forces on the Normandy beaches,
On October 14-15, 2006, another exhibition entitled «Water and life» was presented to the public in the Cultural Center of Saint-Renan.
The portion of the exhibition concerning water was again shown the from February 5-12, 2008, in the Mayor’s Office of the neighboring town of Loc-Maria Plouzané. This exhibition is entirely based on the World’s Oceans. A convention has been agreed upon in partnership with the municipality of Saint Renan to store and preserve this exhibition in an appropriate place.
In 2009, Expotem gathered hundreds of photos to summarise about thirty years of the history of Saint-Renan from 1960 – 1999.
On March 17- 18, 2011, another exhibition concerning «Water, a Precious Necessity for Life» was presented in the Cultural Center of Saint-Renan with the presence and invaluable assistance of many of our long standing partners including IFREMER (French Oceanographic Institution), l’Associaton des Moulins (the Water Mill Association), etc.
