Water, a Precious Necessity for Life

Created by the Expotem association, this exhibition was first presented in the cultural center of Saint-Renan on October 14- 15, 2006. It is divided into two parts, “fresh-water” and “sea-water”, which are now presented separately. The exposition consists of about twenty posters and seven models on the “the water cycle”

Model the cycle of water

The largeset model shows the continuous cycle of water, from the evaporation of seawater, to the rain falling on a mountain, and the subsequent water run-off into rivers and then into the sea.

Panels “the cycle of water”

Five panels on the cycle of water.

Model of “a water tower”

It is a dynamic model, which explains the pressure of water, and was presented at the town of Locmaria Plouzané in February 2009, during the Festival of Science.

Model of “lock”

This model allows children and adults to understand the operation of a lock. It was presented in February 2009 in Locmaria Plouzané during the festival dedicated to Science.

Fountain Model

The fountain model was constructed in Polystyrene and is a replica of the fountain that once existed on the Rue St Yves in St Renan. It will produce water when a lever is activated. A screen built into the model allows us to show films or power-point presentations.

Model “the Mill”

This mill has a horizontal wheel and moving parts. The lower part of the mill shows the bucket wheel, which activates the grinding stones located on the upper floor.

Model “the garden of Archimedes”

Artistic interpretation of the Archimedes Screw, used to transport water from a lower lever to higher ground in order to water the plants in the garden of Archimedes.

Model “Archimedes Scale”

This scale is used to explain the principle of Archimedes concerning the displacement of water by a solid mass.
